Cork is a completely natural and breathable material: its use does not harm the plant like wood could, it does not pollute like aluminum could, it breathes: so your solid product will dry even if stored in a closed container, preserving its compactness intact.

In fact, since it is breathable, your solid product can also be stored inside when damp! Safe for travel or when you are away from home.

We want to say a few words about the processing of cork.

Soft gold, as it is called in Sardinia, is extracted, as the law requires: every 10 years. If the thickness is not considered adequate, it can take up to 15 years, in full respect of the time of creation!

The operation is performed by expert personnel who incise the bark on the surface without damaging the delicate underlying tissues, so the tree will continue to thrive.

Thanks to the cork exfoliation, the tree continues to produce a greater amount of oxygen, helping us clean the air we all breathe.

Imagine that in one year, in Italy alone, cork trees produce 14 million tons of oxygen!

Forests of cork trees are called sugherete and have been preserved over the centuries thanks to their functionality. Bottle stoppers, amphora lids, and other objects were made from this material.

But modern society desires objects that are easier to produce and use less time. The advent of plastic and silicone is coming, alternatives to the natural product - but both highly polluting during production and dispersal in the environment!

These forests of centuries-old trees are protected by WWF, as are the species that inhabit the sughereta, and we at Sense Naturale want to be part of this action because if there is no demand for cork objects, the sugherete can be considered at risk.
